Art World School was invited again this year to showcase student artwork and perform live drawing in celebration of the annual Lunar New Year event at Washington Square Mall on 1/28/23. Students in Art World School’s After School Program, Fine Art Program, group and one-on-one classes, showcased hundreds of works. Some students showcased their winning artworks in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Competition, State Fish Competition, Songbird Art Competition, and more. Artworks ranged from sketching and different types of pastels to watercolor and acrylic or oil paintings. The art show was up for most of the day in the mall for students, their guests, and everyone visiting the mall to view.

As part of the Lunar New Year celebration at Washington Square Mall, Art World School students also performed lived drawing on stage in front of a big audience. Students ages 5 – 11 each drew and colored a different rabbit in celebration of the Year of the rabbit. Students all completed their artwork from memory within 30 minutes. At the end of the performance, the director of the school Mimi Yan also performed Chinese calligraphy and ink painting on rice paper with her drawing of a rabbit, along with calligraphy characters. These student performers developed their art skills in one-on-one one, 1 hour, and 90 minute group classes in Art World School’s after school program and fine art program.
