Monday: Story Boarding
The students will use a story board printout and draw brief sketches of what their story will be for their animation. This helps the children visualize the different materials and movements that will be needed to create their animation.
Tuesday: Choose Materials and Begin Production Design
The students will decide what medium they will use to create their animation, choosing from clay, LEGO, paper, yarn, or other mixed media options. They will then begin building their set, characters, and any other design aspects that will be needed for the shoot.
Wednesday: Finish Production Design and Begin Principal Photography
After putting the final touches on their production designs, the students will begin taking still images, carefully moving their characters/set in small increments for each picture. 30 pictures = 1 second of film
Thursday: Finish Principal Photography, Choose Sound FX
The students will finish the final frames of their animation, then begin choosing sound effects that align with their animation. They will either choose from a database provided by the teacher or create sound effects using the voice memo app on their iPads.
Friday: Editing and Final Screening
The students will learn about the editing process used to compile their images and add sound and title cards. At the end of class, the students will screen their final product.
If you want this adapted for elementary vs middle school, shortened for a website, or styled to match your AWS curriculum theme, I can do that next 👍
