In addition to winning 6 out of 9 awards for Oregon in the State Fish Art Contest, an Art World School student has been announced as another winner in the Art of Conservation Fish Art Contest! The Art of Conservation hosts a variety of yearly competitions focused on nature preservation. Each competition has a theme, with the ones which we normally submit to being Birds and Fish. Over 6000 submissions from around the world were accepted, with winners being selected for 1st-3rd place for each age group who submitted.

However, for the first time, the Fish Art Contest added a new surprise category, in partnership with the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. The Great Lakes Fish Award is a special sub-contest which looks to showcase and honor the fish found in the Great Lakes, which is one of the world’s largest freshwater ecosystems. Any entry which depicted a fish which lives in the Great Lakes was eligible for the award, and one of our student’s entries fit the bill…

A huge congratulations to Rajanya Paul, for getting 3rd place for the 4th-6th grade division of the Great Lakes Fish Award! Her depiction of an Atlantic Salmon features bright purples and greens which help bring out the Salmon’s natural beauty. Set against a backdrop of a fishing boat, other fish, and a beautiful sunrise, her time spent in our Fine Art Classes really paid off. Congratulations to Rajanya Paul for her surprise 3rd place award, and we can’t wait to see what you make next!
