Happy belated Lunar New Year and Happy Year of the Snake!
Each year, Art World School celebrates this special occasion with a live drawing performance at Washington Square Mall, showcasing creativity and talent through art.
This year, 15 students and 2 teachers took the stage, creating stunning snake-themed artwork in just 30 minutes using various mediums like tempera, watercolor, and charcoal.
It was a fantastic display of dedication, practice, and artistic expression!
Art World School’s Live Drawing Performance
For one Saturday each year, Washington Square Mall transforms into a vibrant space filled with performances and demonstrations in honor of the Lunar New Year. Art World School proudly contributes by presenting a live art performance, themed around the year’s Lunar Zodiac Animal.
Students and Teachers Showcase Their Talents
Students and teachers took to the stage, creating stunning snake-themed artwork using tempera, watercolor, and charcoal. Each piece was unique, showcasing their creativity and skills in just 30 minutes.
Weeks of Preparation for a Perfect Performance
The live performance wasn’t created overnight. Students dedicated weeks of preparation, practicing their snake drawings during Studio Art Time in our After-School Program and Saturday Fine Arts Classes.
The challenge? Not only did they need to perfect their snake illustrations, but they also had to:
- Draw without looking at a reference.
- Work on a larger scale than usual.
- Complete their artwork within a strict time limit.
Despite these challenges, each student embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and determination.
A Performance to Remember
Although there were slight delays due to earlier performances, our artists executed their drawings flawlessly. Each student successfully completed a piece they could be truly proud of, demonstrating both their talent and dedication.
After finishing, we made space for the next performance, but the hard work of our students and teachers was truly appreciated. Thank you to our students for your effort and love for art!
A Heartfelt Thank You
We extend our gratitude to all our hardworking students for their passion, commitment, and artistic growth. Year after year, they continue to impress with their dedication to learning and showcasing their creativity.
Bonus: The Hidden Animation Surprise
Two weeks before the event, our Animation Class teachers and students worked tirelessly in Procreate Dreams to create an animation showcasing our new Animation Classes from the past year. It was a true collaborative effort, with creative solutions and teamwork making it possible within the short timeframe.
Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, we were unable to display the animation during the live performance. Even after a last-minute effort to purchase a new adapter, the projector refused to cooperate. Instead, we had to proceed with just the music.
While we were disappointed not to show it at Washington Square, we’re excited to share it with you here! This project reflects the creativity and hard work of our staff and students, and we hope you enjoy it.
Happy Lunar New Year, and keep making art!
