In celebration of Lunar New Year, Year of the Horse, Art World School students performed a live drawing performance at Washington Square Mall on February 28, 2026. This marks the ninth year that Art World School students have been invited to participate in the annual event.
Fifteen Art World School students participated in the drawing performance this year. The event also featured live cello and violin performances by students and teachers from Musication, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for visitors.
During the event day, Art World School also held an art display featuring student works and provided a free art activity for visitors. Art World School teachers led an activity demonstrating Sumi Ink painting on rice paper, which many visitors enjoyed. Participants were able to take home their own paintings after completing the activity.
Preparing for the Live Horse Drawing Performance
Participating Art World School students successfully drew different horses from memory during the performance. Students practiced in Art World School classes for weeks leading up to the performance date to prepare.
Art World School teachers guided students during each practice session by providing instructions on the best methods and techniques to complete their horse drawings within the given performance time. Students practiced both drawing outlines and adding color during these sessions.
Some students also continued practicing at home to refine their drawing skills. Students selected different coloring mediums based on their personal preferences and their chosen picture, allowing each artwork to reflect individual creativity.
Rehearsal and Collaboration with Musication
Art World School students and participants from Musication also practiced together during a rehearsal session. This rehearsal gave all participants the opportunity to perfect the performance and gain additional practice.
Teachers provided further feedback during this time and finalized the stage setup for the performance. The rehearsal was carefully timed to give students a realistic experience of the actual performance day and to ensure that all participants could complete their artwork within the planned time.
Students Showcase Hard Work and Artistic Growth
Some Art World School students have participated in this annual event multiple times, while others joined the performance for the first time this year. All students completed their artworks successfully during the performance and were proud of the pieces they created.
The finished artworks reflect the dedication and hard practice students put into preparing for the event. They also demonstrate the idea that practice makes perfect.
Art World School’s Commitment to Professional Art Education
The performance highlights Art World School’s dedication to maximizing individual instruction for each student, building a strong fine art foundation, and providing professional fine art training. The goal is to help students develop important skills they can use independently, not only when working on artworks at the school.
Art World School follows these goals in every class in the Fine Art Program and After School Program. Students can learn in group classes or one-on-one lessons. Each class helps students improve their art skills, be creative, and grow as artists.
