Thanks to all of our families for helping to make another successful Student Art Show this year!
Every year, around the start of the school year, Art World School hosts a Student Art Show at the Portland Art Museum, in the Mark Building. We intend the event to act as a celebration of all of our students’ hard work throughout the year, with a Student Gallery, activities, and at the end certificates signed by the Chief Curator of the Portland Art Museum.
This year was a stand-out in terms of attendance, with over 300 attendees for the Art Show to appreciate the art of both their own students and the other students that do work in our Fine Art Group Classes, Camps, and After School Program. In order to accommodate everyone, our teachers worked tirelessly to assemble the gallery stands for students to hang their work on; Even some parents joined in!
On that note, we’d like to extend our appreciation to the families that came early and, despite having no obligation to, helped us set up. As previously mentioned the set up for the Art Show can be a challenge, and so we’re incredibly grateful to the families who- even being all dressed up- helped our teachers make this event possible.
This is the first Art Show we’ve had since moving to our new location, and we were happy to see faces new and old mingling together. This show also celebrates an exciting 2023-2024 school year at Art World School, with 40 student winners in various state, national, and international art contests. As usual the hard work and passion of Art World School’s students shone through, and we continue to be impressed with the high quality of work displayed by all of our students at the show; We hope you felt similarly!
Regardless, the Art Show is not meant as a space to compare yourself to your peers- rather, it should act as a space to see how much you’ve improved over the past year, and draw inspiration from your fellow students! All the students that participated this year have been doing a phenomenal job, and should look at their work and feel pride in the distance they’ve come.
Thank you once again to all of the students and families that participated in the Student Art Show this year, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
